Alcatel Y858 also kow as Orange Airbox 2: Features, Specs, Unlocking, Reviews

Alcatel is a leading brand and following the Huawei, the firm has launched various attractive MiFi routers. We had earlier posted about Y855, and Link Zone MW40CJ; which are currently available in Ghana and India; through Surfline and Idea / Vodafone carrier respectively.

Alcatel Y858 also know as Orange Airbox 2 is a Cat.4 LTE WiFi enabled mobile router. It can provide download speed up to 150 Mbps and upload speed limit is 50 Mbps. It can connect up to 15 devices simultaneously through its built-in WiFi feature.



The device supports 4G LTE, 3G (UMTS) and also 2G (GSM) technology. It operates with LTE: 800/900/1800/2100/2600, UMTS: 900/1800/2100 and GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 frequency bands. It can provide up to 42.2 Mbps download speed and 5.76 Mbps speed in 3G network. It is equipped with WiFi: 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz) support.
The Y858 measures only 89 x 62 x 11.5 mm and has a microSD card slot, that can be upgraded with up to 32GB. It has a rechargeable battery of 1800mAH and supports single microSIM card. Once battery is fully charged, you can browse the internet for up to 6 hrs.
Appearance-wise, the Alcatel One Touch Link Y858 looks like a small cardboard box. It comes with a power adapter to charge the battery and also a USB cable to connect to PC. The unit is quite compact and light in design gives a good impression. There are four LED indicators on the front for displaying power, WiFi, SMS, and battery. It comes with a powerful internal Antenna, but there is no external antenna slot is available.
The power button is placed together with the WPS button on the top. It can be accessed through the Web interface by browsing the address 192.168.1.1. In addition to the web interface, you can also access it remotely through Alcatel One Touch Link App, which is available for iOS and Android devices.
Overall, the Alcatel One Touch Link Y858 is a good device, and it’s enough good for common data users.
